In honor of World Nutella Day, I decided to finally make some cupcakes I've been wanting to make for a while: chocolate cupcakes with Nutella buttercream. It took a while, but I found a fabulous blog with recipes for both the cake and the frosting (I left the coffee out).
I decided to sprinkle half of the cupcakes with chopped hazelnuts and leave the others plain. Either way, they taste AMAZING. The butter in the cake makes it super moist and gives it a nice crumb. And the Nutella in the buttercream cuts the sweetness and marries wonderfully with the rich chocolate cake beneath.
If you try these cupcakes, let me (and the recipes' author) know. I think that if you like chocolate and/or Nutella, you'll love them too.
